Terms of Service

1. Acceptance & Eligibility

By creating an account you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. You must be at least 18 years of age, or between 13 and 17 with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you register on behalf of a company or organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Account Registration & Security

You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@about-me.lk if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Plans, Limits & Downgrades

The plans currently available are:

These limits may change from time to time; the table above always reflects the current values. A super_admin may also grant an individual account a higher portfolio or static-upload limit than its plan normally allows.

Downgrades: if you move to a plan with a lower portfolio or static-upload limit, we reserve the right to restrict, hide, or archive portfolios in excess of your new plan's limit. We do not currently do this automatically — existing published portfolios are not force-unpublished the moment you downgrade — so please bring your account within your new plan's limits yourself; we may follow up manually if you don't.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of the text, photos, documents, and (for static-file portfolios) the HTML/CSS/JS bundles you upload ("Your Content"). By publishing Your Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, cache, format, and display it for the purpose of operating the Platform — for example, rendering your public portfolio page, generating your PDF export, and generating your digital business card and QR code.

Publishing is public. When you publish a portfolio, business card, or PDF, the information in it — including your name, photo, bio, and any contact details you mark public — becomes accessible to anyone with the link and may be indexed by search engines. Contact fields you explicitly mark private are withheld from every public view of your portfolio, business card, and PDF exports — this is enforced identically across all three. We have no control over third-party search-engine caching once a page has been indexed.

5. Static-File Portfolios & Bundle Safety

On plans that include it, you may upload your own HTML/CSS/JS bundle instead of using a template. To keep the Platform and other users safe, every uploaded bundle is automatically checked before it goes live:

• Executable and server-side script file types are rejected (including .php, .py, .rb, .sh, .exe, .jsp, .asp, and similar).
• Configuration and access-control files are rejected regardless of where they appear in the bundle (.env, .htaccess, .htpasswd).
• External <script> tags may only load from an approved list of code-hosting CDNs; scripts from any other source are stripped before publishing.

These checks reduce risk but do not guarantee a bundle is free of all issues — you remain responsible for the content and behavior of any bundle you upload.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Impersonate a person, business, bank, or government entity, or create pages designed to phish for passwords, OTPs, or payment details;
• Upload or link to malware, ransomware, or other malicious code;
• Harass, threaten, defame, or publish another person's private information without consent (doxxing);
• Use a static-file bundle or portfolio content to run SEO spam, link farms, or automated scraping campaigns;
• Publish content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark;
• Attempt to bypass the reserved-slug list or any of the bundle-safety checks described in Section 5.

Violating this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account and removal of the offending content, without refund.

7. AI-Assisted Features

Optional AI features (bio rewriting, skill suggestions, and LinkedIn import parsing) are available on plans that include them. When you use one of these features, the relevant text you submit is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, a third-party AI provider, for processing, and the generated result is returned to you. Do not submit information through an AI feature that you would not want processed by a third-party service. AI-generated suggestions may be inaccurate — you are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated text before publishing it.

8. Recruiter & Open-to-Work Features

Job seekers may optionally mark their profile "open to work" and specify the kind of roles they're interested in. Registered recruiter accounts can browse open-to-work candidates and send connection requests. We do not vet job postings or recruiter identities beyond normal account registration, and we are not a party to any employment arrangement that results from a connection made through the Platform.

9. Copyright Complaints

If you believe content hosted on the Platform infringes your copyright, email hello@about-me.lk with: the copyrighted work in question, the exact portfolio URL, your contact details, and a statement that you're authorized to act for the copyright owner. We will review the complaint and may remove or restrict access to the reported content pending resolution.

10. Billing, Payments & Refunds

Paid plans are billed in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) and may be paid via PayHere or bank transfer (bank-transfer payments are confirmed manually by our team after you upload a payment slip — this is not instant). Subscriptions currently do not auto-renew unless stated otherwise at checkout. Fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law; we do not currently offer a self-service refund process.

11. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, without prior notice, including unpublishing content and disabling login. You may stop using the Platform at any time; see our Privacy Policy for how to request that your account be deleted.

12. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM IS LIMITED TO THE TOTAL FEES YOU PAID US FOR THE APPLICABLE PLAN IN THE 12 MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM (OR, IF YOU ARE ON A FREE PLAN, ZERO).

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; the date at the top of this page reflects the last update. Continuing to use the Platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
